Performance.

Powering the Note 9s is the powerful midrange chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G.  In Benchmarks, it is quite strong and performance is great. Your day to day tasks and multitasking won’t be an issue.

Camera

On the back of the Note 9s, there is a Quad Camera setup. You get a 48MP Wide camera + 8MP Ultrawide + 5 MP Macro + 2MP Depth sensor.

Shots from the main camera are excellent. There is plenty of detail, excellent colors, low noise, and wide dynamic range.  This is quite good for the price point. 

In good lighting, portrait photos taken from the main camera with the help of the 2MP depth sensor have good detail and convincing subject separation.  The same goes for the 8MP ultrawide camera and the 5MP macro camera. 

In low light with Night mode, the red note 9s shoots great photos too. There is enough details and good saturation. Overall the camera in note 9s just is great but not the best within the price point. 

Design and Build

The Note 9s looks and feels like most top mid-rangers we have seen lately. It has a front and back glass built with a glossy and mirror-like and matches the frame nicely. The frame is made of matte plastic and offers more grip. The phone back is resistant to smudges. 

As you might expect it does not offer to waterproof but its internals has a water repellent coating. The 6.67” screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 with a punch hole at the top center for a selfie cam. Overall the design and build has a premium look and feel.  

You get the traditional earphone jack at the bottom. Next to it there are the charging port and speakers. Waking the Note 9s is fast and accurate thanks to the fingerprint sensor mounted on the side. 

Display

The 6.67” IPS LCD 1080p screen is good. Sharpness is nice and Contrast is quite good for an LCD.  Max brightness is good too, up to 450 nits in normal and 600 nits in Auto mode. Color accuracy is superb. You can tweak them in the setting for more accurate ranges. Also, The screen has support for HDR10.
